So you’ve heard about CBD’s natural benefits and you’re convinced that the supplement is right for you.
So how much should you take each day?
That’s a question we get asked over and over by those who are relatively new to CBD or still figuring out their ideal supplementing routine. Nearly everyone who starts taking CBD supplements are looking for some guidance on how much is a typical “dose” of CBD oil.
While it may seem to be a simple question, there’s no simple answer. There is no standardized answer as of yet, so we’re here to help you figure out the ideal CBD serving for you based on your personal needs.
Why Take Daily CBD?
CBD hemp oil supplements have surged in demand over recent years because they augment the body’s naturally occurring endocannabinoids, improving the body’s ability to reach and maintain balance within its functions.
Once CBD is absorbed, it interacts with your endocannabinoid system, a regulatory network tasked with keeping many of your body’s functions – sleep, immune function, energy balance, and appetite, for example – in balance.
Hemp CBD oil is also packed with vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that help keep your body running and its peak.
The FDA and CBD
The fact is that there is no such thing as a “dosage” of CBD oil in the traditional sense.
In most cases with supplements, you’re able to get reliable serving size information from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the U.S. federal agency in charge of supervising things like dietary supplements, medicines, cosmetics and food products.
The FDA is responsible for establishing any Recommended Daily Intake (RDI), a serving that the agency determines is sufficient for meeting the nutrient requirements of 97-98% of healthy adults in the U.S.
Unfortunately, the FDA has yet to provide this information for CBD. The agency hasn’t created an RDI for daily CBD servings.
Because Dixie Botanicals® complies with FDA regulations, we do not list an RDI of our own or provide a Daily Value (%DV) of CBD for our supplements.
A CBD Serving That Is Right For You
There is no “one size fits all” serving size when it comes to CBD oil. The best serving size, or “dosage” as some refer to it, of CBD depends on your personal health needs and situation.
Not everyone reacts the same way to CBD oil supplements. Factors like your age, body size, genetics, tolerance, and body chemistry can influence what the right “dosage” of CBD oil is for you. Some find greater benefit with high-CBD products, while others prefer low-dose supplements.
While you may feel like you’re left a little in the dark, we’re here to help you dial in on your optimal serving. To better help you decide the right amount of CBD, Dixie Botanicals® offers CBD products that vary in potency.
A Low CBD Potency Option
Those new to CBD supplements who are looking to try it out for the first time often go with our Dew Drop tinctures, which offer our lowest concentration of CBD per serving.
Our Natural Dew Drops in a 2 oz. bottle with a suggesting serving size of 2 pumps of these stevia-sweetened hemp oil tinctures will give you 3.125 mg of CBD, a great place to begin.
Perhaps you’d like a touch more CBD? No problem! Because of the portability of these bottles, you can easily supplement your body with small amounts of CBD as you’re going about your day. For example, as you get into your CBD supplementing routine, you may find greater benefit by taking Dew Drop CBD tinctures once in the morning and again in the afternoon.
Another great low-dose CBD product are our Kicks energy chews. Each bite-size chew is infused with 5 mg CBD and B-vitamins, plus either 100 mg caffeine or 60 mcg of Vitamin D3 for a balancing, sustained boost of energy.
High CBD Potency Choices
For those ready for higher levels of CBD, Dixie Botanicals® pure CBD Isolate is a great way to go. This CBD concentrate is perfect for those seeking a larger “dose” of CBD.
At 99% purity, our CBD Isolate is the most potent CBD product available. Each 1-gram jar of CBD Isolate contains 990 mg of CBD, which you can break down into specific servings how you best see fit. Vape, dab, or place the powder directly under your tongue for near-immediate absorption. It can also be measured out and mixed it into your pre-workout meal or your recovery smoothie.
Finding Your Ideal Serving
Now that you’ve decided on whether to go with a low- or high-potency CBD supplement, the next step is figuring out your optimal daily serving. Your CBD serving sweet spot could be different from someone else’s.
The key with starting any new supplement routine is to follow the motto — “start low and go slow.” This means that if you have an idea of how much CBD you want to take each day, begin below that number and gradually work your way up. Every week or so, take a slightly larger serving until you hit that ideal serving size. All the while, monitor how each “dosage” of CBD oil makes you feel.
Once you reach your target, you can decide whether that initial serving goal works for you or if you should continue increasing your intake. Perhaps you find a smaller serving than your initial goal amount is best for you.
This method allows you to regularly monitor how you feel and will help you dial in how much CBD that you should take.
Keep in mind that optimal CBD serving sizes can shift throughout your lifetime as your body’s physiology changes.
